Music will fill the air Thursday night at Hafer Park as the annual free Summer Concert Series kicks off with country tunes. The ten-concert series takes place Thursday nights throughout the summer at 7:15 pm, beginning Thursday and running through August 10th at the Hafer Park stage in Edmond, Oklahoma.
"The music ranges from the oldies to bluegrass to rock and roll," says Anne Loughren, Parks & Recreation Program Coordinator. "It's free and family-friendly. It's in a great setting where friends and family can gather. And you cannot beat the quality of the performances."The 2006 concert lineup includes: - June 22 Teasing Weasel (Classic Rock)
- June 29 Full Circle (Classic Rock & Country)
- July 6 Mike Black & The Sting Rays (Oldies)
- July 13 Bonham Review (Bluegrass)
- July 20 The Runnin' Kind (Country, Oldies, Classic Rock)
- July 27 Bluegrass Faithful (Bluegrass Gospel)
- August 3 Souled Out (Show & Dance Band of the past 40's)
- August 10 City Moon (Country)
"The people that come out get to experience variety of music. The kids enjoy it because they can dance to it. The people who've been around for a while get to reminisce with some of the music. It's just a lot of fun and laid back. People can bring a picnic dinner with them." Concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chairs to the concerts, which are sponsored by the City of Edmond's Parks & Recreation Department. In the event of inclement weather, call the Edmond, Oklahoma Parks & Recreation office at 359-4630 to confirm the evening's schedule. Hafer Park is located at 9th and Bryant in Edmond, OK.
