Music For the Mountain came into being after flood damage at Mt. Rainier National Park November 6, 2006 caused closure of the National Park. "Bluesman of the Year" Randy Oxford and Phil Freeman, owner of Copper Creek Inn at Mt. Rainier, began organizing a weekend of music to benefit the National Park, the "Mount Rainier Gateway Initiative" to preserve the scenic corridor to the National Park Entrance, and the Ashford Community Park and Performing Arts Center project.

Music for the Mountain is a proceeds benefit to raise money for trail restoration and other activities at Mount Rainer National Park not covered by annual or emergency funding by Congress. Gate Entrance fees stay in the park and are used to build and restore trails. All gate fees have been lost since last November. Your attendance and contributions will help replace the lost entrance fees and get work started on damaged trails, now estimated to be three years behind schedule.

Music for the Mountain proceeds will also benefit the Nisqually Land Trusts "Mt. Rainier Gateway Initiative" to protect the habitat and scenic view shed along the corridor of scenic Highway 706 E, "The Road to Rainier".

The Ashford Community Park and Performing Arts Center will provide a park with hiking and biking trails, public restrooms and an excellent venue built for Music, Theater, Weddings, corporate retreats, community meetings and events. Thank you for helping Mt. Rainier National Park, Mount Rainier Gateway Initiative and the Ashford Community Park and Performing Arts Center.
