The SteelDriversIt continues to be an amazing journey for Nashville's homegrown, uptown bluegrass artists The SteelDrivers. Online retailer iTunes named the group the number one seller in 2008 in the Americana/Bluegrass Album category for their self-titled debut - beating out number two Alison Krauss and Robert Plant's 'Raising Sand'. Here is the band that put the blues back into bluegrass music. They added some soulful tunes and lyrics and injected a fresh sound into the music.


In addition, to this success following their January 2008 debut album release, the band is heading into the studio this February to start working on their follow up project. Fans in and out of the bluegrass world are anxiously awaiting their next release while they continue to savor the fruits of the debut album, The SteelDrivers.

On December 3rd, 2008 The SteelDrivers also received a Grammy nomination for "Best Country Performance By a Duo or Group for their song "Blue Side of the Mountain". The 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 8, 2009, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). It is no wonder that this soulful and gritty group surprisingly captured the Country Group/Duo Grammy nomination.

The SteelDrivers have captured the ear of millions of listeners of country as well as bluegrass music. The raspy voice of Chris Stapleton isn't one normally associated with bluegrass music. The voice is, however, what puts the body and soul of this dynamic group back into the days of early bluegrass.

As we await details of their forthcoming album, there is an excellent opportunity to catch them live during February at the Station Inn on February 4th and then during WinterGrass for four performances February 20 & 21st.
