Cybergrass Bluegrass Music News: Bluegrass Hotel Project is Suffering Heartburn

A plant without water, it will shrivel up and die. So it is with an event sans all the necessary agreements, clearances, and approvals for the artists to perform and record together. Without the paperwork, the Bluegrass Hotel Project, like the plant, will shrivel up and die. The Bluegrass Hotel Project which was to be comprised of numerous bluegrass music artists is suffering from some indigestion at this time.

Yesterday, Cybergrass reported on the Sam Bush position with our article, Clearing The Air: Bluegrass Hotel Project. Since that article just 24 hours ago, others bluegrass artists are withdrawing from the project. Lack of communication and letting things fall through the crack appear to be the cause of all this recent heartburn the historic project is now feeling.

Other top bluegrass music professionals that were to participate in the Galt House Hotel event in Louisville, KY were to be Tony Rice, Curtis Burch, Dan Crary, John Cowan, J.D. Crowe and the original members of the New Grass Revival and the Bluegrass Alliance.

Guitarist Jack Lawrence announced that he is also "bowing out" due to similar problems regarding clearances, releases and other issues. We have heard that John Cowan and Tony Rice are also no longer offering their participation in the project.

The Bluegrass Hotel Project is still on at this time however, many of the star attractions are no longer on the billing. Bluegrass Anonymous continues to sponsor the program and it is hoped that there is time to revive the New Grass Revival and keep the Bluegrass Hotel Project alive.

The show is still expected to take place and should still be a lot of fun and plenty of excitement however with many of the top acts no longer participating and the recording details being a bit sketchy, we don't know what the final diagnosis will be. We hope there is a good cure.

The project is for Cancer and is to be video taped for a DVD release, there is also a book in the plans and an audio package. It is hoped that the cancer of logistics will not be its downfall.
