Announcement: No Speed Limit Bluegrass Band Invitation

A couple of years ago I "sort of discovered" No Speed Limit in Galax, Virginia. They already had strong ties to the National Council For The Traditional Arts and had been booked to play the National Folk Festival in Bangor, Maine and other places that the NCTA has started festivals.

They came to IBMA that year, I showcased them in various locations and they got booked for a number of festivals including the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival and played at the Rounder Records offices while in Massachusetts. They were very active for a while and then took a break from performing as a band.

Now Amber Collins and Stevie Barr have re-energized the group. Amber Collins is an adorable and strong lead singer. Stevie Barr is a very accomplished, high energy banjo player. Josh Pickett, Merlefest International Guitar Champion, is handling the guitar as wonderfully as always...and is also a strong songwriter. They are now joined by Duane Compton on mandolin and Dustin Pyrtle (nephew of Lou Reid) on bass. The band promises a lot of hard-driving bluegrass and some great duets with Amber and Dustin.

They very recently decided to come to IBMA WOB this year, and because I have always felt so strongly about what Stevie Barr wanted to accomplish with No Speed Limit, I've arranged for a "private showcase" for them. This is a "by invitation only" set that they will do on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:30 PM. It will be in the Nashville Convention Center, Level 1, Room 104.

By scheduling it at 7:30 PM there is no conflict with any official IBMA events. Both the Exhibit Hall closes and the Seminars end at 6:30 PM. This will give you time to have dinner, then come and see No Speed Limit for 30-45 minutes, and still make it to the official IBMA Artist Showcases which start at 8:30 PM. Let me know if you need "special" passes to get in to the showcase area.

So...you have been officially invited!! I hope you will take the opportunity to hear this exciting new lineup of No Speed Limit. I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:30 PM.

PS No Speed Limit will also do a set at the Bluegrass Inn, 418 Broadway, on Wednesday, September 30th, at 2:20 PM.
