 Donna Ulisse will be the featured artist Thursday, October 22, 2009 on the new Station Inn Sessions show broadcast live on WSM Radio from the world famous Nashville bluegrass venue The Station Inn. Doors open to the public with no admission fee at 3:00 p.m. CST and Donna will be interviewed between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. by WSM DJ and Grand Ole Opry announcer Mike Terry. At 6:00 p.m. Ulisse will take the stage with her band The Poor Mountain Boys and perform until 7:00 p.m. with some interview breaks between songs. If you are in the Nashville area you may tune in on 650 AM on your radio or listen online from anywhere in the world at www.wsmonline.com
Ulisse will be performing songs from her 2007 bluegrass release When I Look Back as well as her current release Walk This Mountain Down which are both collections of self-penned tunes. The title track from the latter has been in the Bluegrass Unlimited chart for six months now.
Up until now bluegrass music enthusiasts have been getting to know Ulisse mainly through her music and interviews on the radio but now they are having the chance to make a more personal connection with her as she begins to tour more with her band The Poor Mountain Boys who are named after a song on her latest CD that she co-wrote with husband Rick Stanley. Ulisse recently played the Turkey Track Festival in Waldron, Arkansas and looks forward to touring as much as possible in between working on two projects in the studio in 2010 with producer Keith Sewell.
While Ulisse has done radio in-studio performances with portions of the band, the appearance for WSM on Thursday will be the first time she and the whole band have done a live radio show together. It will also mark the first time she has played the Station Inn.
