Announcement: Song of the Mountains Presents Award Winning Bluegrass November 7th

Event NewsBMNN wrote: on Oct. 30, 2009:
Michael Cleveland and FlamekeeperMarion, VA -- Song of the Mountains will present three award winning bluegrass bands at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm. This concert will be taped for national distribution to Public Television stations across America. The concert will feature the music if Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper and the Williams and Clark Expedition.

Williams & Clark Expedition
The unique and entertaining musical journey of Williams & Clark Expedition blends tight vocal harmonies, white-hot picking, and side-splitting humor into a fast paced, non-stop, crowd-pleasing show! Critically acclaimed master musicians and singers trained by the forefathers of bluegrass and the legends of the Grand Ole Opry have forged into a very special musical experience! With the traditional, high-lonesome vocals of the International Acoustic Music Association's 2009 "Male Vocalist of the Year", Wayne Southards, and the contemporary, songbird-style of Kimberly Williams, this band touts two of the finest lead vocalists in professional music today.

Grammy-winning banjo player, Blake Williams is a master comedian and can work an audience into the palm of his hand with his wit and delivery. Toss in the mandolin prowess of 2-time world champion Bobby Clark, and you have an unprecedented entertaining band! Nominated in 2005 and 2007 for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s "Emerging Artist of the Year", Williams & Clark Expedition is as personable as they are talented, believing the audience comes first. It really is quite simple…Williams & Clark Expedition is the real deal!

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out
Led by the International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) 2-time Male Vocalist Of The Year, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out has walked away with IBMA's Vocal Group Of The Year award 7 consecutive years. All in all, the band has garnered 50 industry awards since their inception in 1991.

Their a cappella renditions of many songs can rarely be matched and their superb instrumentation provides even more quality sound to their rich vocal blend featuring one of the most respected lead vocalists of all time. All this along with a heavy touring schedule, including many performances on the Grand Ole Opry as well as GAC and RFD channel programs, over 14 recordings to date, and a desire to present their fans with the best music possible, makes this "supergroup" one of bluegrass music's most recognized and in-demand band's in the genre's history. The band has recently celebrated tremendous success with the release of their first studio project in 5 years. The self-titled CD is currently on the bluegrass charts and garnering rave reviews!

Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper
The International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) 3-Time Instrumental Group of the Year, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, led by 7-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland and consisting of Tom Adams on guitar and vocals, IBMA’s Mandolin Player of the Year Jesse Brock on mandolin and vocals, Jessie Baker on banjo and vocals and bluegrass legend and IBMA’s Bass Player of the Year Marshall Wilborn on bass and vocals, unites bluegrass veterans with exciting younger musicians to create a fresh sound with deep bluegrass roots.

With Flamekeeper, Cleveland has found a band equal to his relentless drive and inventiveness, and together they create music that is a tribute to classic bluegrass while extending beyond the borders of the musical genre. The jaw-dropping intensity of their live performances have already made them a favorite on the bluegrass circuit. With songs from the forefathers of bluegrass to recently-penned original material, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper offers the listener ample opportunity to get to know each member through their hard driving instrumentals and top-notch vocals, making their own mark as a highly awarded and respected band.

Song of the Mountains features bluegrass, old time, Celtic and Americana Music and is currently airing on over 170 Public Television outlets across the United States. The series is hosted by Tim White. Reserved tickets for the concert at the Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, November 7th are $25.
