Announcement: 10th Annual Rudy Fest 2010 Artist Lineup Announced

Event NewsBMNN wrote: on Nov. 23, 2009:
Rudy Fest LogoThe producers of Rudy Fest have been busy and have announced the 2010 artist lineup. This festival just keeps getting bigger, better and more entertaining as they celebrate their 10th season next year. There are so many wonderful bands to talk about, but Rudy Fest, as usual, is loaded with one of the best lineups in bluegrass music. Rudy Festers will be thrilled to hear that Dailey and Vincent and The Tony Rice Unit featuring Josh Williams are booked for 2010. Rudy Fest has become a homecoming for such groups as Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time, The Lonesome River Band, IIIrd Tyme Out, The Grascals and of course Rudy Fest is not complete without Ernie Thacker & Route 23.

So, just who's going to be at Rudy Fest '10? Well, here's the current proposed rundown. As always, things are subject to change so check back with the Rudy Fest web site to see what's new. In the mean time, here is the current list of outstanding artists scheduled to perform.
Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out
Established in 1991 they have a brand new record label, Rural Rhythm. Russell Moore is THE VOICE, with string of awards voted on by peers and fans alike! Greatness abounds in 3TO on and off the stage. Fantastic harmonies have award 3TO with seven Vocal Group Of The Year Awards from IBMA, and they are always have a dog in the race each year! Quincy, Kentucky is home to their sound tech, Donnie Carver, so welcome home Donnie.

Lonesome River Band
Carrying The Tradition was release in 1991 and from that point on there was a new sound taking the bluegrass world by strom. The Lonesome River Band celebrated it's 25th Anniversary in 2007 and these days headed up by Sammy Shelor four time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year. A crowd favorite everywhere but to Rudy Festerians the LRB rocks Carter County annually at the Rudy Fest.

Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time
The Mighty Cord is Rudy Fest favorite and brings with him his bona fide "hoss cat" band to the Rudy Fest. "Cord" as folks sometimes calls him is one of greatest songwriters on the planet with folks like Garth Brooks, Ricky Skaggs, Alan Jackson, Alison Krauss, George Straight and many others recording songs he's penned and sold to the tund of over 50 million records...not bad for a country boy from Blaine, Kentucky. Come and enjoy Larry's eastern Kentucky singin' and song writin'.

Dailey and Vincent
Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent became the most heralded new act in bluegrass as their debut album Dailey & Vincent (2008) and busy tour schedule introduced them to wildly appreciative audiences. The group took home seven awards at the 2008 International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, and three at the 2009 award show including Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year both years. Their latest album Brothers From Different Mothers (2009) continues the groups tradition of stellar bluegrass performance.

The Grascals
Earning the 2006 and 2007 Entertainers of the Year is a testament to their talents since they have only been on the national stage as the Grascals since 2005. Appearing on countless records and shows by so may artists from Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton, to the Osborne Brothers, these Grascals have a 'been there" and done that for others and now they are doing it on their own. Come to the Rudy Fest and see it for yourself.

The Tony Rice Unit featuring Josh Williams
Tony Rice spans the range of acoustic music, from straight-ahead bluegrass to jazz-influenced new acoustic music, to songwriter-oriented folk. Over the course of his career, he has played alongside J.D. Crowe and the New South, David Grisman, led his own groups, collaborated with fellow picker Norman Blake and recorded with his brothers. With grace, technical skill, and exquisite taste and timing, Rice is still growing. The Unit now includes lead vocals by Josh Williams, a up and coming bluegrass star in his own right.

Bobby Osborne & The Rocky Top Express
In June 1949, Bobby made his first radio broadcast appearance at WPFB in Middletown, Ohio. At his father's insistance, Bobby sang "Ruby" for the first time, and 50 telegrams were received by the station asking them to have Bobby sing it again. They did, he did, and as they say, "The rest is history!" That song became a signature for The Osborne Brothers throughout their career. The first recording by The Osborne Brothers was "Ruby". They sang "Ruby" when they became members of the Grand Ole Opry. They performed it for President Nixon in the East Room of the White House. Nearly 50 years later, it is still one of their most requested songs

Ronnie Bowman & The Committee
Shortly after Ronnie joined The Lonesome River Band, and became a participant in the band’s recording of "Carrying the Tradition"; an album that was named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) Album of the Year in 1991. It wasn't long before Ronnie Bowman became a household name in the Bluegrass community. With the release of an additional four albums as a member of the Lonesome River Band, Ronnie also recorded four solo projects. He has achieved remarkable heights in his musical career as an award-winning Bluegrass songwriter and vocalist, and a respected, successful writer in Country music. Continuing to play the festivals that endear him to the music he loves, (and has contributed so much to over the years) remains an important focal point for him.

Ernie Thacker & Route 23
As everyone knows April 18, 2003 Ernie was in a horrific automobile accident. Although, Ernie was seriously injured and his life was changed forever, Ernie is dealing with things very well. He was quoted saying “although I have lost so much throughout the accident such as his legs, and half of a lung, I have gained so much in other ways.” He has a totally different state of mind, and outlook on so many things. Although Ernie has much healing to be done, he is getting stronger everyday. He’s a Rudy Fest staple and we look forward to having him again in 2010.

Billie Renee & Cumberland Gap
Billie Renee’ and Cumberland Gap is one of the hottest emerging bands in the Bluegrass community. The band will keep you on the edge of your seat with skilled instrumentation and soulful vocals, evidenced through their impeccable song selection. Their well-chosen repertoire includes several original songs along with many Bluegrass standards. Since forming in 1998, BRCG have had the honor of performing for Kentucky Governors, numerous festivals and private events, as well as being honored as the 2006 Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association (SPBGMA) International Band Champions.

Lost & Found
Lost and Found was Formed in 1973, the original lineup of the Lost & Found bluegrass band consisted of bass player Allen Mills, banjo player Gene Parker, mandolin player Dempsey Young and guitarist Roger Handy. The band became quite popular playing bluegrass festivals, with Mills' exceptional songwriting contributing much to the group's fame. As of today, the band is made up by Allen Mills on bass, Scottie Sparks on Guitar, Ronald Smith on banjo and newest member Scot Napier on Mandolin replacing the legendary Dempsey Young who passed away December 10, 2006.

Dave Carroll & New River Line
New River Line was formed in late 2003 with the mission of bringing it's own flavor of music to audiences world wide, while still remaining true to the very steeped tradition that the music holds. New River Line authors much of their own material, which speaks of true life experiences, both good and bad, but also mixes in classic bluegrass tunes that listeners have grown to love and expect.

New Time
Originating in Ashland, Kentucky, New Time has been together with the same core of musicians for nearly fifteen years. New Time's style is traditional/ contemporary with tight vocals and driving rhythms. They have entered the SPBGMA competition in Nashville and have placed in the top 10 each year. They have shared the stage with the likes of Ricky Skaggs, Lonesome River Band, Lou Reid and Ralph Stanley. They have played at Festivals such as Poppy Mountain, Frontier Ranch in Columbus, Renfroe Valley, and played the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY.

Pactolus Pony Riders Reunion
There's time to order your Rudy Fest Advance Tickets for $60 if purchased before June 1, 2010. DON'T MISS THIS GREAT DEAL! Only a limited amount of camping sites with electric are available. Please call regarding camping facilities. They keep adding new hookups each year.
