Alison Krauss, who hails from Champaign, Ill. is a fantastic contemporary female vocalist and a great fiddle player as well. Her band, Union Station is a foursome of outstanding acoustic talent. This young group is very entertaining and their multiple awards attest to this. If you ever get the chance - Check this one out! This artist has won many music awards including 5 Grammys and 4 CMAs. When God gave an angel a voice to sing, he surely gave it to Alison.

This year is starting out just right for this outstanding group! The first awards for the year were the 38th Grammy Awards and Alison, who was nominated in two categories takes them both. If this keeps going, she and Union Station may well have a repeat of last year where she reaped more awards than any other bluegrass act in the business. There is just no stopping this group and, who would want to! Her collection album proves to be the best thing for both bluegrass and country music alike. This album continues to draw listeners and fans from both genres and is helping to blend the audience base.

1995 was extremely rewarding for this band. Both the IBMA and the CMA have piled the awards upon this outstanding bluegrass band. A good deal of the recognition is due to many different projects including the Keith Whitley tribute, their collection album, and especially the song, When You Say Nothing at All. This piece is simply amazing. I've never seen an entire audience go completely quiet but, that's what happens when they perform this song. People want to hear it - all of it!

I discovered Alison when I saw her first video on CMT, Country Music Television, many years ago. It was then that a friend told me that she was going to be at the Rochester, New York Bluegrass Festival. I then had the privilege of seeing Alison and Union Station at that festival. Alison was the highlight of the show. Over time, her music has spread into other areas however, its dynamic quality has not changed. Whether Bluegrass or folk, this is a group to keep an eye on. They are going places!

Alison Krauss is the youngest member to join the Grand Old Opry and the first Bluegrass artist in 29 years however, her music justifies that honored membership. She has also performed with other great artists and has been featured on their albums as well. She currently has 6 albums out and I highly recommend them all! This group of fine musicians is partly responsible for bringing a new young generation of fans and musicians to the Bluegrass scene. Keep up the good work!!

This band is one of the hardest working and largest contributors in spreading the message that Bluegrass exists. Their constant work with other artists in addition to their extremely busy tour schedule, recording schedule, media performances and other activities is indicative of their dedication to this form of music. Although they enjoy playing other forms of music and experimenting with acoustic arrangements of material from outside the acoustic realm, their roots remain deeply seated in Bluegrass.

Adam Steffey has played bluegrass in Tennessee since around 1980. In the late '80s, he played with Barry Bales on the bass and Tim Stafford on guitar. He formed Dusty Miller with Barry and saw Dusty Miller win the SPBGMA band championship in 1990. He has recorded with other groups.

Barry Bales also has his roots in Kingsport, Tennessee. He began playing bluegrass at around age 10. He was a co-founder of Dusty Miller . Barry has recorded with The Stevens Family and others.

Dan Tyminski is from the southern Appalachians but was introduced to Bluegrass music up north in Vermont. Dan played with the Lonesome River Band and their Carrying the Tradition album won IBMA album of the year in 1992. Dan became an acoustic guitarist for the first time with Union Station. His vocal duos with Alison blend with a true bluegrass character.

Ron Block is from the west coast - the Torrance, California area. He currently resides in Nashville. Ron has won championships with guitar and banjo and he also has a great tenor voice. He has played with Weary Hearts . He is currently with Union Station. Actually, he's been a fill-in for over 4-years so I believe he's really permanent.
