CYBERGRASS The Internet Bluegrass Music News Magazine FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Category: Main -> Privacy Statement

Question
·  Do you use cookies?
·  Is my E-mail address secure?
·  What information does your database contain?
·  How does Cybergrass Maintain my Privacy?

Answer
·  Do you use cookies?

Yes, Cybergrass uses cookies as a method of operating the web site. We don't collect personal information with them. All cookies reside on your PC or workstation. They are available for you to read if you want to know what is in them.

Cybergrass is advertising supported and cookies may also be employed by our advertising. If you click on an ad, the third-party may use cookies also but this would be on their servers for their use.

·  Is my E-mail address secure?

Yes. Although your E-mail address is in the database, the database resides on another server. We host with Pair.com which was recently rated the #4 web provider in the world by an independent agency. The findings are on slashdot.com.

In addition, there is no way to scan our pages using address collectors. If you click on an address, the system will auto-generate the html to access your MAPI mail tool but the address is not readable on our pages.

Finally, we use a secure random number graphic that users must type in to access your account information. Again, a robot or automated system cannot read the graphic and thus can't enter the code to access your account.

·  What information does your database contain?

The only information in the database is what you entered when you signed up. Basically we keep an ID number for your account, your nickname, E-mail address and real name. If you entered a web site or other information, that is also in the database.

The database resides on another server and the data is not contained within our web site. We host using Pair.Com as do many major corporatations and major web outlets like Simtel and others. Pair was recently rated as the #4 web hosting site in the world.

·  How does Cybergrass Maintain my Privacy?

We use the latest release of a commercial web package. The entire site is database driven so we don't have a lot of files hanging around. Pair.com keeps their servers, web engine, php engine and database up to date with all the latest security patches applied. While we can't guarantee 100% security (nobody can), we do host Cybergrass on one of the best hosting services in the world.

We don't sell, rent or disclose any information about our members to anybody. For almost 12 years, we've been recognized as an ethical and honest web site. This recognition was earned -- it wasn't bought. We're also a family operation with no ties to venture capitalists, parent corporation or others with a marketing department interested in your private information.
