International and local artists are fascinating a growing audience in special venues like historical cinemas, theatres and cozy bars. The musicians’ genres vary from Alternative Folk, Alternative Country to Americana, Bluegrass or Singer-Songwriter. The atmosphere of the concerts is changing with the choice of venues and lives from the artists’ interaction with the audience (www.songsandwhispers.com).

In November „Songs & Whispers“ proudly presents „Skyside“ from Vienna / Austria, whose music is categorized as “acoustic experimental pop”. Furthermore the Australian urban folk artist Stephen Brandon will presents us his unique guitar songs. As well there will be different local artists supporting the two main acts.

Background information:

Skyside (Vienna)
“Skyside” represents a unique sound for listeners that are used to loud, fast and sometimes musically flat pop songs. Their music was called “lyrical experimental pop”. Their songs are purely acoustic, the voices of Kerstin Steiner and Johnnie White are easy to recognize and complete each other to an extraordinary sound.
Most of the band members received a classical music education and collected experiences in different musical genres. Their debut album “Ergo Relief” was released in April 2008 and shows various styles from conventional pop to experimental compositions.

Stephen Brandon (Berlin + Australia)
Does Urban Folk represent a new form of Indie rock? Stephen Brandon at least is able to get away from the well known folk monotony and finds new sounds. His lively guitar playing with influences from Folk, Punk, Jazz and Pop is brilliant and emphasizes his original song writing.
During the 90s Stephen released his music on Australian independent labels and produced some radio hits that were played worldwide. Because of his wish to experience new cultures he moved to Germany three years ago and toured in Europe. His newest album “Big City Beats” was recorded and produced in Berlin. Its sound is quite minimalist with mostly acoustic solo tracks.
