The WNC Farmers Market, Clear Channel Radio, Carolina Farm Credit and the Farm Bureau of Asheville will present the 2nd Annual BBQ Cook Off & Bluegrass Jam on March 30 and 31, 2007 at the WNC Farmers Market in Asheville, NC. Numerous bands will be providing entertainment to accompany the great food.


Performances will be provided by White Water Bluegrass Company featuring Grammy Award winner, Mark Pruitt, 2006 IBMA Album of the Year award winner & Grammy nominated, Darren Nicholson, the Red Eye Ramblers, Sons of Ralph, and Southern Crescent.

Teams to provide pork, ribs and other necessities for the competition. Space is limited, so register early. There will be 3 Categories for 2007 event:

  • Friday, March 30th - Anything Other Than Pork Contest
  • Saturday, March 31st - Pork Contests
  • Saturday, March 31st - Ribs Contests
Each will be a separate division with Grand Champion award for all three categories.

All cooks will be allowed to sell to the public pending passage of inspection from health department. A packet will be sent out to each team when organizer is notified. entry fee must be sent to organizer with entry form and Health Department Guideline list.

Admission is free to public, with food priced by the individual vendors. The event brings people to the market and is a great promotional event.

If you are planning on cooking for the public and set up to cook large amounts of pork, please notify Brian Roberts at 828-253-1691 as soon as possible. Registration Fee is $120
