It is certainly the time for awards and show and festivals and this year, the Vinton Old-Time Bluegrass Festival had a great competition. When some music competitions around the country seem to be losing a bit of steam, this one churned out many awards.
The annual Vinton Old-Time Bluegrass Festival was held at the Farmer's Market Stage in Downtown Vinton, Virginia. The festival featured music groups including Dixie Bluegrass Brothers, Common Ground, Phoenix, Bluegrass Gospel Express and many others from around the region.
Saturday, August 18th was when the competitors lined up at 12:00 noon. There were regular, teenage and chile competitions for all instruments and vocals. The competition is always a lot of fun, especially for the children who are so important to the preservation of old-time and bluegrass music. They are the torch carriers into the future of bluegrass music.
