Profile: Rose's Pawn Shop is Bluegrass Along the Fault Line

ProfileBMNN wrote: Rose's Pawn ShopIt may come as a surprise to hear the foot-stomping strains of Appalachian bluegrass channeled through a rock band here in Los Angeles, but heartache, loss and regret have always been the cornerstones of great music and this city has its share. In a town better known for porn stars and face lifts, anything as authentic and heartfelt as Rose's Pawn Shop, is a pleasant surprise.

Profile: Introducing The Emmons Sisters Bluegrass Gospel Princesses

ProfileBMNN wrote: Emmons SistersThe Emmons Sisters, "The Princesses of Bluegrass," are playing music that will bring a whole new future to bluegrass music. That's why they play Tomorrow's Bluegrass, Today! The audience may be seeing four young sisters, ages 15, 17, 19, and 21, but they're listening to enthusiastic musicians playing energetic bluegrass music while singing beautiful soaring harmonies to audiences of all ages. These sisters write their own bluegrass gospel music, weaving in influences of some of their favorite bluegrass artists such as Alison Krauss and Union Station, Nickel Creek, Cherryholmes, and Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, yet still allowing their own distinct sound to stand true.

Profile: From The Gulf Coast Comes a Delta Reign

ProfileBMNN wrote: Delta ReignDelta Reign is a gulf coast band that is cooking up a unique new sound that fuses traditional bluegrass with western swing rhythms, tight vocal harmonies, stirring in some blues, a dash of jazz, resulting in what some are calling "bluegrass...delta style". Delta Reign is a group of experienced musicians from the Mobile river delta area that got together in the fall of 2004 for a jam. There was an energy and groove that they had together and instantly, they knew that this was to be a new band. So one week later as hurricane Ivan changed all their lives, Delta Reign was formed...

Profile: Lonesome Traveler Isn't Really Lonesome Anymore

ProfileBMNN wrote: /Images/LonesomeTraveler.jpgLonesome Traveler will have to change their name soon to account for the horde of fans that are starting to follow them around. This is an acoustic band from Colorado's front range with a bluegrass driver's license, a certificate of songwriting, and a sheriff's badge of cool. They possess the cracklin' firepower of a six-piece band, yet the grace of a dancer as they weave in and around their condenser microphones, singing, picking, and testifying to the gospel of Americana music.

Profile: Mandy and the Bandits Perform Outlaw Bluegrass

ProfileBMNN wrote: Mandy and the BanditsMandy and the Bandits came together to bring to life songs written by vocalist/composer Amanda Crumley, and what life they have found! Comprised of Chicago musicians with a broad spectrum of musical backgrounds, the Bandits' sound is a highly-conductive amalgam of styles. A whole lot of bluegrass, inspired by artists such as Allison Krauss and Dolly Parton, mixed with bit o' folk and a dash of jazz is what you'll taste at one of their shows. Powerful three-voice harmonies backed by two guitars, mandolin, slide, fiddle and a driving rhythm section, the Bandits create an electric atmosphere. Along with their originals, they perform covers by the aforementioned artists as well as the Beatles, the Dixie Chicks, Nickel Creek and more.

New Product: Casey Henry and Her Signature Series Kel Kroydon Banjo

ProfileBMNN wrote: Casey HenryCasey Henry grew up surrounded by bluegrass music. Her parents, Red and Murphy Henry, had a band that played throughout the Southeastern US in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Although it was all around her, Casey didn't show much interest in bluegrass, concentrating instead on academics, piano lessons, and playing flute in the school band. She started playing bass at age twelve and joined with her parents' band a couple years later. At age fifteen everything changed. Seeing Little Roy Lewis play while on a trip to Nashville inspired her to take up the banjo and she never looked back. Since relocating to Nashville in early 2001, Casey has played with Uncle Earl, Michael Martin Murphey, June Carter Cash, Tennessee Heartstrings, and her own band, Casey and Chris and the Two-Stringers.

Profile: It's Time To Do The Grassanova!

ProfileBMNN wrote: Grassanova'Grassanova' may be the new band on the block, but its members have years of experience playing bluegrass and other forms of acoustic music. 'Tom & Marie' have joined forces with R. J. Siegers and Jim MacWilliams to form an exciting and dynamic new acoustic sound in New York's Southern Tier. 'Grassanova' plays solid traditional bluegrass as well as popular songs done in a bluegrass/newgrass style, and they'll throw in a few other musical styles such as swing, blues, and early jazz just for fun. Be sure to check out our MySpace site, at MySpace.com/Grassanova, where you can find recordings, our schedule, and other information about the band and its members. Stop by and visit them at Grassanova.
