WordThe Acoustic Burgoo is proud to announce the arrival of their third full length album. Word is now available from The Acoustic Burgoo. This contemporary bluegrass band from Round Hill, VA formed in 2006, they have already shared the stage with Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, the Seldom Scene, and the Two Man Gentleman Band as well as playing at notable festivals like Floydfest and Watermelon Park Fest. For a new bluegrass sound, this is right up there with the SteelDrivers and as for Traditional Country, it is a lot like Kelly Willis. Put them together for something new and exciting.

This group performs "Uncle Pen" with the same ease as they do "Walkin' After Midnight" or "Don't Let Em Rule Your Mind." The point is that their range in styles is quite broad and diverse. This adds to the groups colorful appeal -- it covers all aspects of bluegrass music from the hard traditional to soulgrass and beyond.

The Burgoos have become journeymen musicians: good musicianship, good songs, excellent creativity! New recording, WORD, demonstrates their development and evolution. These young folks have a strong future in music making!
- A Fan

The Acoustic Burgoo formed at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Round Hill, Virginia. The members were inspired by the music, people, and traditions of Appalachia. Deeply rooted yet uncompromisingly progressive, the group is driven by four young multi-instrumental talents.

The Burgoo seamlessly flows through a vast array of material, touching on bluegrass, Chicago blues, old-time fiddle tunes, traditional country, and soul. They carry their influences forward in their own original material. With soulful female vocals, tight male harmonies, guitar, mandolin, upright bass, harmonica, and a whole slew of other instruments, the Burgoo is known to satisfy the taste of a wide range of listeners.

Notable performances include:

  • Opening act for bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley at Franklin Park Arts Center
  • Opening act for DC bluegrass band the Seldom Scene at Franklin Park
  • Opening act for acclaimed bluegrass singer Larry Sparks at the Lucketts Bluegrass Series
  • Watermelon Park Fest 2009, 2010, and 2011
  • Under-the-Radar artist at Floydfest 2009
