Little Roy and Lizzy Long BanClinch Mountain Music Fest is gearing up for its seventh-annual celebration of mountain music in Scott County, Virginia, on Saturday, June 9, 2012. This year's festival will be held at the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons. The goal of Clinch Mountain Music Fest is to preserve and perpetuate the heritage of the Appalachian region through its music and to provide scholarships for young musicians at regional colleges and universities that teach heritage music.

This year's festival is dedicated to Jay Dixon who chaired this festival for the past five years and passed away in January of this year. The festival features special talent -- some old friends and new faces: Little Roy Lewis and Lizzy Long, Grayson Highlands Band, Lonesome Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys, Janie Dixon, the Country Pearls, the Virginia Whirlwind, and the Town Branch Blue Grass Band.

Gates open at 12:00 noon for early seating. Admission is $15.00 per person – all day. Artisan and food vendors as well as a pickin' tent and flat footin' lessons and demonstrations will be found around the grounds of the Carter Fold. The opening ceremony is at 2:00 p.m. Music starts at 2:30 with the Virginia Whirlwind. Janie Dixon will pay a special tribute to Jay Dixon at 3:30; the Country Pearls will perform at 3:45. The Town Branch Blue Grass Band will provide the dance music for the flat footin' contest at 4:30. A dinner break will allow the festival goers to visit the tents and attractions on the grounds. The Grayson Highland Band will kick off the evening at 6:30 followed by Will Mullins and the Virginia Playboys. The featured band, Little Roy and Lizzy Long Band will open at 9:00.
