Blue Ridge Music Center Delivers Hot Bluegrass Music June 9

Big Country BluegrassBlazing Blue Ridge Bands Concert features Whitetop Mountain Band & Big Country Bluegrass with Don Rigsby at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Music Center June 9 Two of the most popular bluegrass and old-time bands in the Blue Ridge will deliver one of the hottest shows of the season on Saturday, June 9th at the Blue Ridge Music Center.

Big Country Bluegrass is renowned for their traditional bluegrass sound, old country songs, barn-burner instrumentals and powerful stage presence. They have a strong following of fans everywhere they go as a result. Even better, they have joined forces with the legendary Kentucky singer and multi-instrumentalist, Don Rigsby, from the band Midnight Call.

Don has performed with Charlie Sizemore, JD Crowe & The New South and was a member of the Bluegrass Cardinals and The Lonesome River Band. His distinctive tenor voice can be heard on numerous award winning bluegrass or gospel records to a grammy-winning record by John Fogerty. Big Country Bluegrass’s delivery of heartfelt bluegrass music makes them a favorite wherever they go, whether it’s performing at the Grand Ole Opry or at an intimate concert in their hometown of Independence, Virginia.

Also, back by popular demand on the same show, is Whitetop Mountain Band. Dancers of all ages will not be able to resist the driving rhythm of this renowned stringband. Plus Emily and daughter Martha Spencer’s soaring vocals on bluesy and traditional old-time songs cannot be beat. Hear the fiddle and banjo ring!

The Blue Ridge Music Center is located at milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The summer-evening concert series occurs every weekend through mid-September in the outdoor amphitheater at the foot of beautiful Fisher Peak, only 10 miles from Galax, Virginia.
