Richmond, VA -- British folk rock band Mumford & Sons chose Bristol, Virginia as one of the U.S. towns for their Gentlemen of the Road tour. The sold out show takes place in the heart of downtown Bristol, the birthplace of country music, on August 11. The Virginia Tourism Corporation is offering music lovers a way to get in on the fun with the Gentlemen of the Road: The Crooked Road to Bristol Sweepstakes. U.S. residents 21 and older can enter to win a VIP experience to see Mumford & Sons perform at http://www.Virginia.org/CrookedRoadSweeps
In addition to attending this once-in-a-lifetime concert as a VIP, the winner will also have the opportunity to experience the history and culture of Southwest Virginia at toe-tapping, old-time and bluegrass music venues as they follow The Crooked Road — Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. A 350-mile driving route that winds throughout the region, the Crooked Road connects some of the most authentic traditional country and mountain music venues together.
The winner can join music lovers in Floyd for the Floyd Country Store’s Friday Night Jamboree, where folks enjoy flatfooting and clogging to the music of regional Bluegrass or Old-Time bands inside, while independent jam sessions fill the streets outside. Or, they can visit the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, where each Saturday night the Carter family, credited as forerunners of modern-day country music, play traditional Appalachian music that’s been around for generations.
