A while back, we wrote about Pa's Fiddle, the Pa's Fiddle Project which is a CD of music to represent Charles "Pa" Ingalls, the 19th Century American Fiddler. The stories and the music were brought to global attention by the Little House on the Prairie books authored by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The DVD, Pa's Fiddle: The Music of America is a great addition to the initial CD and presents a music video experience of the common songs as performed by some of America's favorite artists.
Pa's Fiddle: The Music of America was also inspired by the Little House on the Prairie books. The DVD is a collection of music videos of live performances that was captured in the Loveless Barn on January 6th, 2012.
The DVD includes performances by Randy Travis, Natalie Grant, The Roys, Rodney Atkins, Ronnie Milsap, Ashton Shepherd, Committed and the Pa's Fiddle Band presented live and captured in an intimate setting.
The supplemental material includes "The Battle Cry of Freedom" by Committed as well as the Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder add an additional dimension to the volume.
The music videos are a wonderful supplement to the CD which contains totally different material. The CD is primarily performed by Pa's Fiddle Band and includes Bryan Sutton, David Grier, Matt Combs, Derek Jones, Joe Weed, Jeff Taylor and others.
The DVD is comprised of 14 video tracks plus the supplemental material. Beautifully put together in the cozy setting of the Loveless Barn in Nashville, Tennessee, the videos almost make you feel as if you were there.
Timeless songs like "Buffalo Gals," "The Sweet By and By," "Dixie/Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Rock of Ages" and others are familiar enough that you may want to join right in. The familiarity of the selections helps bring you closer to the music. This is a classic ready to happen. Based on a classic era that already has.
