Nashville, TN -- For the past few years, Music Row veteran songwriters/artists Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, and Jerry Salley have been donating their talents in the form of a Christmas concert to benefit the restoration of the historic Strand Theatre in Louisville, MS, Jackson's hometown. Having performed as "The Trio" for over twenty years, it was in recent years at this particular show the powerhouse group attracted the attention of Republican Congressman Gregg Harper. Recently, the Congressman invited them to perform during the Republican National Convention on August 28th for the Mississippi Delegation power lunch.
Jerry Salley, whose new CD, Showing My Age, was released this past Tuesday, was nothing short of enthusiastic when presented the opportunity.
"Carl called us back in June to see if it was something we'd be interested in doing. I'm just excited and honored to get a chance to perform as part of the official activities surrounding the convention! It's a chance for us to get to witness a little bit of political history."
The Trio has released two albums together, Against The Grain and Lonesome Café, though each of the individual artists have solo projects available, as well. Collectively, they have won virtually every music award offered, from Grammies to Dove Awards, and had their songs recorded by the likes of Garth Brooks, Reba, Elton John, and Alison Krauss, to barely even scratch the surface.
