Owensboro, KY -- The International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Ky., is proud to announce the nomination of our very own ROMP: Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival, as a contender for the coveted International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Event of the Year Award.
The IBMA award announcement ceremony took place Wednesday August 15th in Nashville, Tenn.
ROMP, now in its 9th year of production is held every June in Owensboro, Ky. The festival is a celebration of bluegrass and the related forms of music that went into the mix of bluegrass, such as Appalachian mountain string band music, Scots-Irish, African stomp, blues, jazz, and Cajun.
The annual 3-day event is held at Yellow Creek Park. Throughout the festival one can enjoy workshops, jamming, child activities, and all-night-after-parties. Arts and Crafts Artisans make the festival grounds visually beautiful with handmade clothing, jewelry, toys, instruments and artwork for sale. Owensboro's best chefs are routinely joined by other creative food vendors, providing a wide variety of culinary offerings. Festival attendees also receive free admission to the International Bluegrass Music Museum. ROMP is the largest annual fundraiser for the Bluegrass Museum.
