Larry Cordle Added to Mountain Stage Line-Up in Bristol Oct. 7

Larry CordleCelebrated singer/songwriter Larry Cordle has been added to the Mountain Stage line-up in Bristol, recording before a live audience at The Paramount Center for the Arts October 7th, 2012. Wanda Jackson, Connie Smith, JD McPherson, and Pokey LaFarge & the South City Three are also on the bill.

Cordle's career began when fellow East Kentucky neighbor Ricky Skaggs recorded his song "Highway 40 Blues" in 1983. The song hit number one, and helped launch a lucrative songwriting career. He partnered up with Skaggs again, becoming a staff songwriter for Skagg's company, Amanda-Lin Music, a subsidiary of Lawrence Welk's mega successful publishing company, Welk Music. At last count, Cordle's songs had appeared on projects that had to date sold a combined total of more than 55 million records. Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins are but a few artists who have recorded his music.

With his band, Lonesome Standard Time, Cordle has been awarded a song of the year by the International Bluegrass Music Association on two separate occasions, garnered two Grammy nods for best bluegrass album, received nominations for vocal group and instrumental group, and landed #1 slots on the Bluegrass and Americana charts.

In addition to his already impressive career, Cordle is often a featured lead and/or background vocalist alongside artists like Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton and Bradley Walker. His lead and harmony singing is featured on Livin, Lovin, Losin: A Tribute to the Louvin Brothers, which won a Grammy for Best Country Album in 2003 and was named recorded event of the year by IBMA.

Cordle regularly records and tours, but is still first and foremost a songwriter, writing independently for his own company, Wandachord Music, BMI.
