Many of you have fond memories of The Pinkham Family (Terry, Jeff, Josh, Savannah & Vanessa) at many of our festivals in years past. In case you have not heard, Jeff Pinkham has been diagnosed with Cancer and like many of us today, has no health insurance. Jeff and his family need our support. Yes, they need financial help and if you can do that, there are several ways below that you can help (buy a ticket for the benefit, donate thru pay pal or send a check). But they also need to feel our support as a community, as a music family. Evidence shows that people who have an extensive, vocal, loving, energetic support system do much better at fighting this terrible disease. Central Florida bluegrass legends The Sunshine Bluegrass Boys are making a rare reunion with the original lineup - Mike Marshall on mandolin, Ron Rimmer on banjo, Joey May on guitar, and bassist Allen Waters - especially for this show.
This benefit concert at Skippers Smokehouse on November 12th features some of our favorite folks like Mike Marshall, David Grisman with his son Sam, and of course Jim Lauderdale, Sue Cunningham to name a few. Randy Judy (Big Cosmo) will be there and do a song or two. Beth Judy will be attending to show her support. For those of you who can't make it to the show, we are working on getting approval for a streaming option online. We will let you know the details when that gets approved. Check out the press release below for more details on the show that you will not want to miss!
There is going to be a raffle at the show so if you have a prize you want to donate, please email Beth@magmusic.com and she will get you hooked up with the person handling the raffle. All of this is coming together very quickly. Please help in any way you can. Buy a ticket, donate money, donate a raffle prize, send healing love and prayers. Any or all of that works!
Jeff Pinkham is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar and violin) who has toured alongside, composed for and recorded with a slew of top names in contemporary and roots music. Together with his wife Terry and son Joshua, they can be seen throughout the greater Tampa Bay area performing as the Terry T. Trio. Recently, Jeff was diagnosed with an aggressive form of throat cancer and to help with the daunting financial challenges faced by a self-employed and uninsured musician, a host of Jeff's former collaborators are gathering from literally across the globe to lend their time and talent to help out their musical compatriot.
Scheduled performers include David Grisman (newgrass pioneer with his eponymously-named Quintet, also known to many via his long-running collaborations with Jerry Garcia), Jim Lauderdale (gifted performer, peerless songwriter, and ambassador-at-large for Americana music), Bertie Higgins (Florida native, singer-songwriter and Billboard Top Ten recording artist), Jeremy Kittel (fiddler extraordinaire, formerly with the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet), and Mike Marshall (mandolinist/guitarist for the David Grisman Quartet, Edgar Meyer, Joshua Bell, Bela Fleck and many more). Area luminaries Kenny Suarez (drums) and Ron Reinhardt (keyboards) are graciously contributing their talents as well.
The benefit takes place at Skipper's Smokehouse located at 910 Skipper Road, Tampa, Florida. The concert is at 6PM and tickets are just $15/$20. Want to help the cause but can't make the show?
