Dunrobin PlaceRecently described as “A Musical Phenomenon…Passion and Flair That Belies His Tender Years” (Travelling Folk, BBC Scotland), twenty two year old Matheu Watson’s eagerly awaited second solo album Dunrobin Place will be released on the 19th of November 2012. Having recently contributed as key soloist to the soundtrack of the Disney/Pixar smash-hit “Brave”, Matheu has had an incredible couple years since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album.

As well as performing alongside many luminaries of folk, roots and Celtic music, including Julie Fowlis, Fred Morrison, Cara Dillon, Tim O’Brien, Dougie MacLean, Ron Block, Emily Smith, Salsa Celtica, Heidi Talbot, Boo Hewerdine and many others, Matheu recently collaborated with the world famous Indian percussionist Zakir Hussain and Pulse of the World as part of the London 2012 Olympic opening celebrations.

His new album is truly a solo production of epic proportions having performed and recorded the music exclusively himself. He then mixed the record alongside long term collaborator Jim Neilson (Texas, Glasvegas, Fred Morrison) and travelled to London’s Abbey Road studios for the album to be mastered by Grammy award winning engineer Sean Magee.

Dunrobin Place was recorded at home during the spring of 2012 in Edinburgh’s New Town. The album distils the travels and tunes of his recent musical experiences into a potent blend of vibrancy, vigour and virtuosity. The album is an intimate reflection of Matheu’s travels and music form the last few years.

The music brings together original and contemporary material alongside classic melodies to create a dynamic tapestry of contrast and sensitivity. The album celebrates cultural links to the Celtic Arc with tracks like Candas Harbour and Miss Hoy as well as incorporating his musical encounters with the Arab Kingdom and Bluegrass America in tracks East West and Ceit and Eilidh’s. Dunrobin Place is a captivating musical journal depicting two years of touring, music making and discovery.

Dunrobin Place will be released on the 19th of November through Proper Music Distribution and is available to pre-order or contact through www.MatheuWatson.com
