The project also made it's debut on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction's Most Played Albums at #7 for November and is #6 on Roots Music Reports Top 50 Bluegrass CDs chart. Released in mid-October, They're Playing My Song has received much critical acclaim and has produced several tracks finding their way onto bluegrass charts including the first single, "Bottom Of The Mountain" which was #3 on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Songs chart (week of 11/16) and #7 on SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction's Most Played Tracks (November 2012). In addition, "Cruisin' Timber" has debuted at #9 on this week's Bluegrass Today Top 20 Songs chart (11/23).
Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers were recent guests of SiriusXM Bluegrass Junction for a Track By Track of They're Playing My Song. During the special, the band visited with the International Bluegrass Music Association's Broadcast Personality of the Year, Kyle Cantrell who was elated to have the band join him in studio. After seeing the band perform at the IBMA's recent World of Bluegrass conference, Cantrell stated, "The nice thing about this band is you've got such versatility. All of you can do so many different things, but yet, you all do what you normally do so well. You see these guys on stage folks and it's like a well-oiled machine!"
long with the band's success with They're Playing My Song, Joe Mullins was also excited to see a project he performed on, Foggy Mountain Special: A Bluegrass Tribute To Earl Scruggs reach #9 on this week's Billboard Top 10 chart. The recently released CD is chock full of first rate musicians paying homage to the legendary man who is credited as being one of the most copied musicians in any genre of music. In addition to being a hit with radio programmers, the CD is also a hit with critics and received a stellar review in the December issue of Bluegrass Unlimited where the writer states, "Joe Mullins sounds like Earl reincarnated on 'Earl's Breakdown'".
Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers have had a very successful 2012 that has included a heavy touring schedule, a Bluegrass Unlimited cover story in August, being named the IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year in September, the release of They're Playing My Song in October, and hosting duties of the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival held in March and November. The band is looking forward to spending the holidays a little closer to home with their families but not before closing out the year with a special Christmas Concert at the historic Clifton Opera House on Saturday, December 1st in Clifton, OH. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation to the concert to help benefit area food banks. Guests who do so will be entered to win a wonderful Christmas gift basket from the Ramblers and Classic Country Radio. Doors open at 6:30pm and admission is only $10.
