Nashville, TN -- The HillBenders recently signed with Compass Records Group and are getting ready to hit the streets with a reissue of their debut album, Down to My Last Dollar, on January 29th. On their debut album Down to My Last Dollar, the band established their hard-driving contemporary bluegrass sound reminiscent of New Grass Revival. This set of 11 originals and 2 covers was produced by Jeremy Chapman of The Chapmans and features guest appearances from Infamous Stringdusters’ Jeremy Garrett. Lead singer/mandolinist Nolan Lawrence together with band mates Jim Rea and Gary Rea on guitar and bass respectively, banjoist Mark Cassidy and Dobroist Chad “Gravy Boat” Graves channel the rawness and intensity in these well executed arrangements. The HillBenders have quickly become favorites on the festival circuit— their contagious energy, tight-knit vocals and instrumental prowess contribute to their high-octane performances loved by the young and old alike. Since forming four years ago, the group has claimed the Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition championship as well as the National Single Microphone championship and has appeared on some of the most prestigious festivals, including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, and the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)’s Fan Fest. While grounded in bluegrass yet also incorporating influences from country, rock, blues, jazz and Americana, the HillBenders are an exciting addition to the Compass Records roster.
