Aaron Ramsey Releases Solo Debut “Gathering”

GatheringAaron Ramsey (the mandolinist for Mountain Heart) has a new solo release featuring a gathering of outstanding artists that include Tony Rice, Barry Abernathy, David Babb, Ron Block, Tim Crouch, Stuart Duncan, Randy Kohrs, Colby Laney, Jason Moore, Jeff Partin, Josh Shilling, Tim Stafford, Brian & Maggie Stephens, Josh Swift, Ricky Wasson, Patton Wages, and Jim VanCleve. Brian Rittenberry who just made it to Hollywood on American Idol is also on the album! The new release is appropriately titled Gathering.

Aaron Ramsey steps out with Gathering his first solo album since joining Mountain Heart as their mandolinist and dobro player. This past year, Aaron was nominated for IBMA Recorded Instrumental Performance of the Year, as a result of his work on the song “Manzanita” for the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Album. His work has been recently on Jim Lauderdale’s album Carolina Moonshine, and Letting Go by band mate Josh Shilling. Gathering serves as the perfect name for Aaron’s project, as it brings together people, songs, and the drive that fans know and love as Bluegrass Music.

In his own words, Aaron shares:

“It’s a gathering of a lot of the people that have made me love bluegrass music and allowed me to have my own identity as an artist. Tony Rice’s Cold on the Shoulder recording was my inspiration and is the spirit of this record. I am really glad to get it out there and let people listen to it. I hope you all enjoy it.”

Gathering is available for purchase on the artists website, www.aaronramseyonline.com and at Mountain Heart shows:

  • 1/31 Annapolis, MD
  • 2/02 Norfolk, VA
  • 2/15 Newberry, SC
  • 2/16 Walhalla, SC
And look for Aaron later on this festival season at Merlefest, Appalachia Uprising, and Red, White and Bluegrass!

"I can’t say enough- he’s just such a good musician. There’s not a word in the English dictionary to describe how unique and good he is. Once every maybe 20 or 30 years there is a musician as good as Aaron that comes along, but it’s very rare. Aaron is not only a master of his craft but he has his own musical identity."
