America the Beautiful marketing agency released their top 10 list of Kentucky events and the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Music Festival was right there. When it comes to special events, fairs and festivals, Kentucky has something for everyone. Whether it's honoring food, history, heritage, or one of the four seasons, Kentucky celebrations are known for their authentic charm. The following is just a sample of the events taking place year round.
Jerusalem Ridge Festival held during October in Rosine, Kentucky is an annual festival where fans and musicians gather to play and listen to traditional bluegrass music, and to honor and remember the Father of Bluegrass Music Bill Monroe who made it all possible. The festival, running for four full days, is held on Jerusalem Ridge, just outside Rosine, Kentucky, where Bill, Charlie and Birch Monroe grew up and learned the roots of what was to eventually evolve into what we know as "bluegrass" music. Other events that shared in the recognition are the world famous Kentucky Derby & Derby Festival, Kentucky Bourbon Festival, World Chicken Festival, AQS QuiltWeek™, International Bar-B-Q Festival in Owensboro, Great American Brass Band Festival, MainStrasse Village Oktoberfest, and St James Court Art Show.
Jerusalem Ridge is not only the birthplace and boyhood home of famous people like Bill and Charlie Monroe, but also the birthplace of an American art form. When you come to Jerusalem Ridge you will feel and experience the history everywhere you turn. You will see the views and hear the sounds of nature that inspired young Bill. And you'll experience the warmth of the Jerusalem Ridge folks.
The Jerusalem Ridge Foundation is operated by a volunteer army. We are updating the information about the JRBC daily. Those of you who have sent email inquiries will soon receive an email back from us! And all of you have been added to the email address book. You will receive updates and newsletters from my office and the time approaches for the greatest festival in the world.
