IBMA 2011 World of Bluegrass Showcase Artists and Songwriters Announced

World of Bluegrass/IBMA/ Nashville, TN -- IBMA is proud to announce the following acts have been invited to perform in featured showcases for their colleagues in the bluegrass industry during the organization's 2011 Business Conference. The purpose of these presentations is to introduce the group's talent and material to event producers, broadcasters, labels, media and other prominent industry professionals attending the events. An additional six acts will be invited to showcase, in a separate selection process, from recommendations received from nationally distributed record labels.

In an effort to promote bluegrass and related forms of music, IBMA hosts artist showcase performances which help meet the industry's need to see what's new in the music, as well as open doors for acts by creating an opportunity to present themselves at the World of Bluegrass Business Conference. These presentations are one of the primary highlights of IBMA's convention, where nearly 2,000 music industry leaders gather annually. The purpose of these showcase presentations is to introduce the group's talent and material to the attending event producers, broadcasters, labels, media and other prominent industry professionals.

Bands who apply to showcase are not required to be IBMA members, but are required to submit a fee to help defray the expenses associated with the selection process. Artists invited to showcase are extended complimentary registration for the full conference, but they must pay an additional showcase fee and must be (or become) IBMA members upon accepting the invitation.

All bands which desire to participate in the IBMA Showcase performances An additional six acts will be invited to showcase, in a separate selection process, from recommendations received from nationally distributed record labels. The showcases are designed to introduce any one or all of the following to the bluegrass industry:

  • Emerging talent capable and willing to broaden their market
  • Established bands who have significant changes in their act
  • Artists who have significant, new recorded product

This year 13 bands have been selected to showcase their talent during the World of Bluegrass activities:

  • Bluegrass Regulators
  • The Foghorn Trio
  • The Hillbenders
  • Jett's Creek
  • Monogram
  • Rockin' Acoustic Circus
  • The Roys
  • Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen
  • US Navy Band Country Current
  • April Verch Band
  • Wildfire

In addition to the artists showcases, the IBMA recently created another unique showcase -- the songwriter showcase. IBMA is pleased to announce the following writers have been invited to showcase original bluegrass material at the IBMA Bluegrass Songwriter Showcase on September 27, from 10-11:30 p.m. at The Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Writers will present the song they submitted, plus one more of their choice. Artists, producers and label reps looking for new material are encouraged to attend.
