The song “He Washed My Soul,” as recorded by The Little Roy and Lizzy Show, was honored as Bluegrass Song of the Year at this year’s 44th Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, hosted by Amy Grant and Kirk Franklin. The award recognizes the artists and the song’s writers, Wayne Haun, Jamie Helms, Ruby Moody, and Ron Haun.
In an acceptance speech, writer Jamie Helms said, “This song was written over 18 years ago. It's a miracle to me that it was recorded. You never know when or where a song will find a home. I love that it found its home here. They did such a beautiful job with it."
Lizzy Long commented: "People from coast to coast are loving this song. It has a simple message but it strikes a chord in the hearts of our listeners."
"I'm so glad the GMA includes Bluegrass music in their organization,” added Little Roy Lewis. “They've always been so kind to us."
The Little Roy and Lizzy show released the song on their Pisgah Ridge release Lord in the Morning. Pisgah Ridge congratulates the artist and songwriters on the award.
For more than four decades, the GMA Dove Awards has honored outstanding achievements and excellence in Gospel music. The most anticipated music event of the year for fans and industry alike, the show celebrates our rich musical diversity.
