Halloween: Did You Know that Banjos Kill Zombies?

Zombie Killer Goodtime BanjoIt's Halloween season and if you really need a killer item, consider a Zombie Banjo! Inspired by the movie “Zombieland” featuring Woody Harrelson whose character at one point uses a banjo to fight off Zombies, Greg Deering created the latest 5-string Goodtime banjo - the Zombie Killer Goodtime banjo. Launched at the 2013 Anaheim NAMM (National Association of Music Merchandisers) Trade Show, the Zombie Killer banjo was a hit with general attendees and dealers alike. With a “blood splatter” resonator finish and a “saw blade-edged” brilliant red flange made with a cut-out zombie-themed pattern to match the fingerboard inlays, the Zombie Killer will capture the attention of the audience without even strumming a note. Now, we just need some great zombie bluegrass music to go after.

Made with a hard rock Blonde maple neck with engraved hardwood inlays with Zombie killing themes, a 3-ply violin grade maple rim, maple resonator is finished to look blood splattered and worn, and unique hardwood engraved inlays, the Zombie Killer has the same natural brightness, volume, and sustain that have made the Goodtime banjos the most popular selling American made banjo in the world. Retailing for only $999, this limited edition model is sure to be a hit with players interested in the “Zombie Apocalypse” craze of today or those who just want to have “more fun” playing the banjo.

Did you know banjos kill zombies?

The resonator flange has teeth around the outer edge like a circular saw blade with Zombie killing images cut into the flat surface of the flange. The three ply violin maple rim is finished with the dark reddish finish. The metal parts are finished in both nickel plating and a hard blood red color.

The Zombie Killer is available now at authorized Deering dealers or factory direct. This banjo is dedicated to the youthful interest in the "Zombie Apocolypse" .... and for the kid in all of us.

The finish on each and every Zombie banjo resonator is unique in an effort to present as playful an image as possible. Our luthiers are taking great joy in creating images that can include dirt, boot prints, face prints, hand prints, chain marks, raised surfaces simulating blood clots, etc. Know that this is all deliberate and done with you in mind. Enjoy knowing that your banjo is a one-of-a-kind creation!
