Marana, AZ -- The 2014 Marana Bluegrass Festival will be held in down town Marana on Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13. Like the 2013 Festival, this festival will feature the bands of Arizona bands as well as National Headliner guitarist Dan Crary. Dan will be performing solo as the close out performance on Saturday, and will be joining his friends Greg Morton and Peter McLauglin for a Guitar Summit on both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss these shows – three amigos, all championship level guitarists – flat picking at its best.
The festival is presented by a partnership of the Town of Marana and the Desert Bluegrass Association (DBA of Tucson) and the Arizona Bluegrass Association (ABA of Phoenix). This will be second time these two organizations have partnered with the Town of Marana to stage this festival.
In addition to Dan Crary and the Guitar Summit, the festival’s Arizona bands include Run Boy Run, the Sonoran Dogs, Crucial County, 2 Lazy 2 Ranch - plus several yet to be named bands.
Many positive comments were received regarding the quality of entertainment provided by the Arizona bands performing at the 2013 Festival. The festival attendance exceeded all expectations which secured its future as an annual event. Credit must be given to the many volunteers from both the DBA and the ABA. Without their help, there would be no festival.
Sound reinforcement is provided by the “best”, Old Blue Sound. Plans are underway to provide more shaded areas for the comfort of the festival attendees. Again, there will be Arts & Crafts vendors and Food vendors serving a variety of foods and beverages. Day passes are $12 pp and weekend passes are $20 pp. Children under age 12 are free with an adult. Free RV dry camping is available with the purchase of two weekend passes and free tent camping on park grass is provided (Advance registration for the free RV parking is highly recommended; see website) The festival’s opening ceremonies start at 9:45 am both days.
