Plans are well underway for the next edition of World of Bluegrass and tickets are now available for members -- non IBMA members can purchase their tickets and hotel reservations beginning April 14th. Either way, you will want to get your reservations in early for the various elements of the annual event which will take place September 30 through October 4, 2014. The event includes the IBMA Business Conference, the International Bluegrass Music Awards, Wide Open Bluegrass Festival, Bluegrass Ramble showcase performances as well as all the jamming, networking, seminars and more.
The new web site designed by Landon Elmore Design & Marketing (LEDM) has links to the same categories as the previous site. LEDM produced the branding and marketing materials for the 2013 Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, NC. Wide Open Bluegrass is the new weekend festival formerly known as IBMA's Fan Fest, part of the World of Bluegrass Week. There are two parts of this huge event. The main stages in the Raleigh Convention Center and Red Hat Amphitheater will host some of the best bluegrass lineups of the fall anywhere in the nation, with Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers, The Gibson Brothers, Punch Brothers, The Infamous Stringdusters and much more. The other half of Wide Open Bluegrass is a FREE street festival Friday and Saturday. With three music stages, a youth talent stage, the North Carolina Whole Hog Barbecue State Championship, Dance Tent, and many more things to see, do and eat.
Along with the new site, the site is sporting a new series of IBMA logos. The previous globe banjo icon has been replaced with a new branding which includes a banjo headstock with the IBMA letters prominently displayed. There's an extra bit of emphasis on "Bluegrass Music" too. The web pages have variations of the logo in the graphics and main title bar & menu. Variations include a globe, mandolin, IBMA and the banjo headstock. Each is used to emphasise a different aspect of bluegrass music and functions represented by the association.
