Arden, NC – Crossroads Entertainment and Pisgah Ridge Records extend congratulations to Paul Harrigill of Flatt Lonesome on his first place win in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest. Along with his sister Amber Nugent, Paul co-wrote “I’m Blue” which took top honors in the Bluegrass category.
Keeping it all in the family quite literally, Paul’s wife and bandmate, Kelsi Robertson Harrigill, also made the finals in the competition and ultimately took a prize in the Country category. Kelsi’s new song, “You’ll Never Have To Lose Me” received the 2nd place award in that category.
With nearly 600 entries in the contest this year, first- and second-place wins in two categories is cause for celebration. Paul received prizes and additionally, Flatt Lonesome was invited to perform the winning song in front of a great crowd on the Cabin Stage Friday night of MerleFest.
“Needless to say, we had an unbelievable time at MerleFest and cannot wait to do it again next year,” Paul exclaimed.
