Bluegrass artists Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising were beyond surprised and delighted the other day to hear from Colt Chambers, the President of the International Music & Entertainers Association (IMEA), that they had been nominated for awards in three categories for their annual IMEA Awards this year.
On a ballot of entertainers that covers all sorts of genres and splits into both music and theater categories, Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising is honored to be among the five finalists for Bluegrass Group of the Year, to have our 2013 Christmas release "Spending Every Christmas With You" nominated as Best Holiday Album and to have the song "I'll Be Home For Christmas (In the State of Oregon)" nominated as Holiday Song of the Year.
Kathy's response to this news? "This is meaningful. All I have ever wanted is to be an entertainer." The entire band feels the same way.
As the IMEA believes that the fans should have the final say in who takes home the awards, voting is now open to the general public. From now through Tuesday, August 27th you can cast your vote at http://www.imeaawards.com/vote/music/ - one vote per email address please.
To make it really easy, you only need to vote for the entertainers that you feel a personal connection to. Do take a peek at the other nominees, but you will find our nominations at numbers 13, 31 and 32.
The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 4th at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
