The Earls of LeicesterNashville, TN - The Earls of Leicester, whose self-titled debut has spent 17 weeks on the bluegrass charts since its release, have announced new dates for the winter & spring of 2015, including appearances at the prestigious Bonnaroo, Floydfest, and Rocky Grass Festivals.

2014 saw them perform to capacity crowds at West Hollywood’s legendary Troubadour, San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, Raleigh’s IBMA Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

The band, led by 13-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas, received a Grammy nomination for their eponymous debut, which got a nod in the Best Bluegrass category. Douglas is also nominated for two other Grammys this year: his collaboration with Billy Childs and Alison Krauss on Laura Nyro’s “And When I Die” is up for Best American Roots Performance. Three Bells, the Dobro-trio album Douglas recorded with the late, legendary Mike Auldridge and Rob Ickes, is nominated for Best Folk Album.

The six-man band encompasses Douglas plus acclaimed writer, producer, and solo artist Shawn Camp on lead vocals and guitar, renowned Nashville banjoist Charlie Cushman on banjo and guitars, second-generation fiddle phenom Johnny Warren, and Barry Bales, Douglas' longtime bandmate in Alison Krauss and Union Station, on vocals and bass.

The new group is the product of Douglas's lifelong passion for the music of bluegrass pioneers Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and their band the Foggy Mountain Boys, whose seminal work in the '50s and '60s created the template for what we know as contemporary bluegrass, and transcended traditional genre barriers to popularize the music with an unprecedented mass audience.

In addition to Douglas, the band’s lineup boasts some of the very finest musicians in bluegrass, including bassist Barry Bales, vocalist/guitarist Shawn Camp, banjoist Charlie Cushman, and fiddler Johnny Warren.

“When it comes to giving bluegrass fans a taste of tradition, acclaimed Dobro player Jerry Douglas has teamed with some of the top musicians in the genre to form the Earls of Leicester, a tribute to bluegrass legends Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.” Rolling Stone Country

“To say the playing and singing on this record is stellar is an understatement: everything Douglas and company do from note number one is flawless, perfectly channeling the spirit Flatt and Scruggs into fresh interpretations of great songs.” The Bluegrass Situation
