Glen Harlow BandSaturday, January 2, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass and old time music by the Glen Harlow Band. This will be a fine start to the 2016 music season at the historic Carter Fold.

Glen Harlow has been singing and playing music since early childhood, learning to sing gospel music from his mother and father. He is a studio musician and a veteran of many Mountain Empire bluegrass and acoustic groups. Joining Glen will be a great lineup of accomplished and award winning area musicians collectively known as North Fork. Eric McMurray from Gate City, Virginia will be playing banjo and singing vocals. Rick Barker, from Mendota, Virginia, will be playing guitar and doing vocals.

Kevin Jackson, from nearby Bristol, Virginia, is well known to Carter Fold audiences as one of the finest fiddle players in our region. Kevin will be doing vocals and playing the fiddle. Mitchell Bentley, from Coeburn, Virginia, will be singing and playing the upright bass. The group will feature old time and bluegrass instrumental favorites as well as traditional and progressive standards.

We’ll be celebrating another year promoting and highlighting the music of our region. Don’t forget your dancing shoes – you’ll need them! Have your family and friends join you at the Carter Family Fold for an evening of downhome, family fun. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.
