Jim Hurst Trio - JHT-1Jim Hurst announced that they just recorded the brand spanking new Jim Hurst Trio CD – JHT-1 with two fine people and musicians. JHT-1 features Nate Lee on Fiddle & Mandolin, Erik Alvar on Bass & Mandolin and Jim on Guitar & Banjo. There are instrumental tunes, sing songs, and lots of fun had by the three trio members.

Jim comments saying, "Hopefully, the CD will be up on my website soon, and the JHT website and Facebook pages just after that. I think you’ll love the new recording, 5 of my new compositions, 3 new songs I co-wrote, 1 composition by Nate, 1 song by another writer, and my arrangement of an old tune, you probably have heard and/or played yourself. 40 min. of musical energy and sensitivity.

"We have a new Facebook page [link], and working on a new website which should be up and running soon. Bear with us as we work toward getting all the wrinkles ironed out, and everything all oiled and tuned-up. Working with some great people, including liner notes by Ned Luberecki, CD art/design by Olivia Howell, photos by Scott Simontacchi, and engineered by Scott Vestal."

The International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass convention is held again in Raleigh, NC this year (and for several years after), Tue 9/27 thru Sat 10/1, and the JHT will be there. They will have showcases and will be at the Heart Roots booth in the trade show, and generally hanging around.

Speaking of the IBMA, Jim is happy to announce that he is once again nominated for IBMA’s Guitar Player of the Year award. Since he plays with a thumbpick as much or more than he plays with a flatpick, he is honored to be on the final ‘short’ list. Here’s hoping the best guitarist goes home with the award. Jim received the award in 2001 and 2002.
