Roanoke FiddleFest Celebrates Tradition of String Music June 8-9

Fiddle Fest 2012Each year, fiddlers, festivarians, jammers, and fans of bluegrass music converge to experience unbeatable workshops, concerts, jams and more. This year will be an outstanding year with top artists performing concerts, workshops from the pros and an all around good time.

An oustanding array of artists will be celebrating the tradition of string music this year including award winning top performers. This year, attendees will be entertained by:

Grasstowne - Grasstowne is a band comprised of a very well respected veteran of bluegrass music as well as four of the finest young musicians in bluegrass today. Their latest project Kickin' Up Dust is currently in the top 5 on the singles and CD chart and rising!

Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road - The band's distinct sound and old time flair can be attributed to bluegrass-rich area of North Carolina from which they hail and borrow their name. As the founding member and band leader for Carolina Road, Lorraine Jordan's showmanship and chemistry with the audience makes the group one of the most popular bands among bluegrass fans today.

Paul Williams & the Victory Trio - If you want to feel bluegrass gospel, then Paul Williams and the Victory Trio are the real deal. A master songwriter, Paul's songs are part of the bluegrass and country lexicon. Don't miss this opportunity to see the Trio!

The South Carolina Broadcasters are an award winning old-time trio with modern day appeal. Their tight harmonies and exceptional instrumentation give The Broadcasters a powerful old-time sound. All three members share a common vision and obsessive passion about the music they are playing. This little mission band is on a mission.

Jim & Valerie Gabehart - After marrying in 1981, Jim and Valerie Gabehart began a musical partnership which has lasted 27 years. When their youngest left home for college, they began work on putting together a new group and getting back out on the road. Jim and Valerie are ready to hit the stage with enthusiasm and excitement!

Larry Gillis and the Hard Driving Swampgrass Band performs and records traditional bluegrass music, including old favorites along with new material written by Larry himself. 2010 marked 30 years Larry has been playing that hard core traditional style music with hopes that bluegrass will continue in generations to come.

Conner & Miller calls their music "Americoustic", as it's all American music from the world of bluegrass, country, old time, and rock and roll. Occasionally they’ll share with you something that they wrote, and there ain’t no tellin’ what that might be.
