Dan's latest CD, entitled Country/Folk includes his original song "When The Last Train Leaves Appalachia". Country singer/guitarist/songwriter, Dan Perkins, grew up near the coal mining town of Grundy, Virginia. Dan developed an early interest in music and began playing the guitar and singing around the age of ten. Music has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. He formed a band in high school, called "The Vindets" and after college formed a band called "Phoenix", which played throughout Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and even as far north as Michigan. One of the highlights of his time with "Phoenix" was performing for Lady Bird Johnson, former first lady and wife of President Lyndon Johnson.
During the past twenty years, Dan has concentrated on performing solo as a folk/country singer, guitarist/harmonica player and songwriter while appearing at festivals, county fairs, and corporate events. Dan has written several songs, which he includes on his CDs and live performances. His latest CD, Country/Folk contains five original songs featuring "When The Last Train Leaves Appalachia". Dan plays all the instruments, sings all the vocals, and did all the engineering work on the CD.
