The RoysNashville, TN -- The up-and-coming Bluegrass brother/sister duo, The Roys, are set to host the world-famous Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree on Saturday, September 17. The live broadcast kicks off at 12:00 Midnight and streams on David McCormick, CEO of Ernest Tubb Record Shops, is excited to be bringing some new talent to the venue. "It's been a long time since we've had anyone like The Roys on our stage," he says. "I think they're going to do very well. Lee and Elaine deserve everything I know that will come their way." For The Roys, who grew up listening to the Jamboree, hosting the show is a dream come true.

Big Country BluegrassBig Country Bluegrass was formed by husband and wife Tommy and Teresa Sells in the late 1980s and took it's name from Tommy's coon-hunting buddy Jimmy Martin's instrumental Big Country. In the ensuing years, the group played numerous fiddlers' conventions, capturing their share of individual and band honors while also performing at festivals throughout the southeast. Abandoning the competition circuit, they concentrated on festivals and concert dates. Along the way, they've developed a large and devoted following throughout the U.S. and abroad. Saturday, September 17th, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Big Country Bluegrass. Admission to the concert is $7 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

International Country Music Conference 2012 Call for Proposals

ICMC 2012As the summer heat wave moderates a bit, we're moving along toward ICMC 2012. We continue to receive excellent proposals on topics never before addressed at ICMC or which take familiar topics and develop new data, insights, and analysis. ICMC stalwart Wayne Daniel and Kevin Fleming will be dealing with a topic related to the issue of defining country music. Their presentation "What's In a Name? Would That Which We Call Country Music By Any Other Name Sound as Sweet? The Billboard and Variety Answer" comes with a guarantee of Daniel's and Fleming's flawless presentation. Their research design even includes the statistical gold standard of randomization and will be shared in later ICMC eblurbs.

Chris lost his life in an accident in Burlington, NC this past Wednesday, August 17, 2011. The photo was Chris' birthday in August 2010; Tony had just presented him with the Accutron he's holding.

The Grascals Nail Down Four IBMA Nominations

The GrascalsNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards Ballot for 2011 is official. The Grascals' head into the final voting with a total of four nominations: Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year, Recorded Event of the Year and band member Kristin Scott Benson, reigning three-time Instrumental Performer of the Year (Banjo), is in the running for that honor again this year. Winners will be announced at the organization's 22nd annual awards show, scheduled for September 29, 2011 (7:30 p.m. CDT), at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.
