Birthplace of Country Music Receives Virginia Tourism Corporation Grant

Birthplace of Country MusicBristol, TN/VA -- Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that the Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) received $10,000 from the Virginia Tourism Corporation Marketing Leverage Program grant fund. In total VTC awarded more than $796,000 for 45 tourism marketing projects across the state to help increase visitation and revenue for Virginia’s localities through tourism.

Headliners Steve Earle and The Dukes and Delbert McClinton will both perform on Sunday, Dr. Dog on Friday, and Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band will perform on Saturday in addition to the dozens of acts schedule to appear over the entirety of the weekend.

Tim White CD Release Party at ACMA Pickin Porch Aug 3rd

King of the Left-Hand LaneBristol, TN/VA -- The ACMA Pickin Porch will be the site of a CD release party on Monday, August 3rd. Tim White invites everyone to attend his release of the Heartland Recording Label's King of the Left-Hand Lane CD. The recording was produced in Bristol, TN at Ray Dearstone's Heartland Recording Studios and includes Tim's original song which is the title cut "King of the Left-Hand Lane". There are eighteen cuts in all on the project which includes several bluegrass standards as well as four Tim White originals.

BCMM is committed to providing interdisciplinary material and experiences that will help teachers and students achieve their educational goals. In order to do so, BCMM is planning an Educators’ Day on July 22, 2014 and two days of in-services for regional teachers on July 23 and July 24, 2014. These events will offer educators from our region a “sneak peek” at the new museum before Grand Opening Events Weekend August 1-3. It will also offer an opportunity to earn professional development/in-service hours.

Referred to as the "big bang of country music," the 1927 Bristol Sessions changed the industry forever. The Birthplace of Country Music Museum, in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, will tell the story of Bristol's musical heritage and its impact on the world.

Bristol's Border Bash Artist Lineup Announced

Bristol Border BashBristol, VA/TN -- At Wednesday’s press conference, Believe in Bristol, alongside community partners Birthplace of Country Music®, revealed plans for a summer packed with free live music and family fun on State Street and beyond. Border Bash, the twice-monthly free concert series held annually May through August, celebrates its 15th anniversary as a roving mini-fest that has grown to include children’s activities and vendors in addition to live music and much more. Border Bash will take place on the first and third Fridays, May through August.
