Ted Olson to Receive Honor of Excellence at Friends of 1927 Fundraiser

Ted OlsonBristol, TN/VA -- Lisa Oakley from the East Tennessee Historical Society will present Ted Olson, Professor of Appalachian Studies at East Tennessee State University, with a Regional Excellence in History Award of Distinction for his work to preserve the music history of East Tennessee. BCMA Receives $1.7 Million Toward Cultural Heritage Center

Bristol Cultural Heritage CenterBristol, TN/VA -- The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance (BCMA) has been granted $1.7 million from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission to aid in completion of the Cultural Heritage Center in Historic Downtown Bristol. Renovation of the site, located on Cumberland and Moore Streets, is ongoing with a projected completion date of 2013.
