The Seldom Scene at Bluegrass For Hospice TODAY

The Seldom SceneThe Bluegrass for Hospice-2014, now in its 6th year, will be held TODAY, Saturday October 25th and will feature The Seldom Scene. The event will be held at the Flat Iron Farm in Great Mills, Maryland. It is located on Flat Iron Road just 1.5 miles from MD Route 5. The event begins at Noon with gates opening at 11:00 am. All proceeds for the day go to support the Hospice House of St. Mary’s County.

Bourbon & Bluegrass - a Bluegrass Museum Benefit

Owensboro, KY -- The Owensboro Bourbon Society, The Miller House and the International Bluegrass Music Museum are partnering together for 'Bourbon and Bluegrass,' Saturday, October 11 at The Miller House. This special evening will include dinner, bourbon and wine tastings with the meal, champagne, a silent auction and live music, and will be a benefit for the International Bluegrass Music Museum.

Doyle Lawson to Perform Benefit Concert TODAY

Doyle Lawson & QuicksilverColumbus, KS -- Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will perform a concert benefitting the First Christian Church African Scholarship Fund on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 7:00 pm CT. Update: Carter Family Fold Special Concert Features Tune Town

Tune Town Old Time BandWe had earlier announced that the Carter Family Fold's special program would feature Mountain Park Old Time Band. The band has been changed to Tune Town. The Tune Town Old Time Band is a North Carolina based old time band that has been making quite a name for themselves in old time music circles for the past several years. Tune Town has six musicians in the group. The band features two guitars, two fiddles, and the clawhammer banjo. Dr. Mark Handy will be playing banjo and helping out on vocals. When he’s not playing old time, Dr. Handy practices family medicine in Abingdon, Virginia.

Early estimates show that, from its start on Thursday, April 24, to its close on Sunday, April 27, aggregate participation over the festival’s four days exceeded 76,000 participants, staying comparable with last year’s numbers. MerleFest, held on the campus of Wilkes Community College, is the primary fundraiser for the WCC Endowment Corporation, funding scholarships, capital projects and other educational needs.
