The Big Bang Of Country Music To Come Full Circle at HoustonFest

Orthophonic Joy CoverTourism and Music Industry representatives announced a special showcase to be presented at HoustonFest on May 1 & 2, 2015. HoustonFest will hold a special showcase of historic importance. The group recently announced the creation of Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited CD project. Eleven of the 17 artists performing on this historic CD project will be appearing at HoustonFest 2015.

Ricky SkaggsHoustonFest has signed 14 time GRAMMY® Award-winner Ricky Skaggs. Over the course of his 40 year career, Ricky Skaggs has won 14 Grammy Awards, 8 CMA Awards, 8 ACM Awards, 11 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Awards, 2 Dove Awards and countless others. HoustonFest 2012 will be held at Felts Park in Galax, Va. on May 4 & 5.

HoustonFest 'A Celebration of Song and Service' Announces Master Luthiers Auction

Jimmy Edmonds, Gerald Anderson, Wayne HendersonHoustonFest 2012 will host a very special live auction featuring acoustical instruments handcrafted by master luthiers of the Appalachian Region. A Wayne Henderson guitar, Jimmy Edmonds fiddle, Anderson – Strickland mandolin, and a Steve Huber banjo will be offered to the highest bidder. These much sought after instruments compose the Masters Auction to be conducted live on the Main Stage of HoustonFest 2012. The auction will be conducted by Mr. Kenneth Farmer Jr. owner of Ken Farmer Auctions & Appraisals, LLC and a guest appraiser on PBS television Antiques Roadshow. Bids will be taken from the audience, over the internet, and by phone.

Houston Kyle CaldwellHoustonFest 2012 is pleased to announce the creation of the Houston Caldwell Music Scholarship. This program is part of the HoustonFest mission to provide inspiration and avenues for regional youth to pursue their artistic endeavors preserving the musical heritage of our region. Houston Kyle Caldwell; who passed from us on April 30, 2010; was only 18 years old, but his musical legacy, passion for the continued growth of our musical heritage, and his spirit of community service will live on as we continue to fulfill his vision.
