Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs' 1957 'Foggy Mountain Jamboree' to 2012 Grammy Hall of Fame

Foggy Mountain JamboreeSanta Monica, CA /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing the tradition of preserving and celebrating great recordings, The Recording Academy announces the newest additions to its legendary Grammy Hall Of Fame collection. Highlighting diversity and musical excellence, the collection acknowledges both singles and album recordings of all genres at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance. Through a tradition established nearly 40 years ago, recordings are reviewed annually by a special member committee comprising of eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts, with final approval by The Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees. With 25 new titles, the list currently totals 906 and is displayed at the Grammy Museum.

Grammy Winning Songwriters and Producers to Support the SADS Foundation

SADS FoundationNashville, TN -- Renowned Nashville-based songwriters/producers Cordle, Jackson & Salley (also known as Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, and Jerry Salley) will band together on August 18, 2011, to host a benefit concert on behalf of the Fore A Good Kaas Foundation to support the SADS Foundation. The concert is dedicated to the memory of Rob Kaas, a professional golfer who died prematurely at the age of 28 due to SADS – Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome. All funds raised from this benefit concert will be donated to the SADS Foundation.

54th Grammy Categories Reduced to 78 Fields for 2012

Grammy AwardSanta Monica, CA -- /NARAS/In an effort to continuously evolve its GRAMMY Awards process, The Recording Academy has announced that it has restructured the GRAMMY Categories across all genres and Fields, bringing the total number of Categories to be recognized at the 54th GRAMMY Awards in 2012, to 78 (down from 109). All Fields remain the same. The announcement was made at The Academy's headquarters by President/CEO Neil Portnow, Academy Board Chair Emeritus and five-time GRAMMY winner Jimmy Jam, and Vice President of Awards Bill Freimuth. Additionally, a minimum of 40 distinct artist entries will be required in each Category (up from 25).
