The Hillbenders Respond to Colorado’s Front Range Disaster

The HillbendersWith deep roots planted in Colorado, and a love for the state and people sowed over years, The Hillbenders have announced they will be hosting the Foothills Flood Relief Benefit - Working Together to Help Colorado's Front Range, on Thursday, Oct. 24 at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR. The benefit will include special guests, the Cindy Woolf & Mark Bilyeu Band featuring Jody Bilyeu (of Big Smith). Together they hope to bring more light, hope, and support to a place with people that means so much.

Steep Canyon Rangers’ Mountain Song Festival Raises Over $50,000

Steep Canyon RangersThis past weekend, the Steep Canyon Rangers presided over their 8th annual Mountain Song festival in Brevard, North Carolina. The festival, which the group founded in 2006, is an annual fundraiser that benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County, NC. This year’s event, which took place over September 13th and 14th, boasted a lineup that included some of the finest musicians on the contemporary bluegrass and acoustic music scene, including Balsam Range, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Shawn Camp, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, The O’Brien Three featuring Tim & Mollie O’Brien with Rich Moore, Shannon Whitworth, and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Museum Has Raised $78 Million, Seeks Final $20 Million

Working On A Building CMHoFNashville, TN -- The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s capital campaign, which will finance the institution’s 200,000-square-foot expansion, has reached nearly $78 million, Museum Director Kyle Young announced today. Construction on the nearly $100 million project, which will take the museum’s footprint from 140,000 square feet to more than 350,000 square feet, took shape in June 2011 and will be completed in March 2014.

The tribute will occur at the Hometown Heroes Celebrity Golf Scramble to benefit the new International Bluegrass Music Center. It is sponsored by the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau. This event includes a golf scramble at the Owensboro Country Club followed by a reception hosted by the City of Owensboro including entertainment by these renowned Bluegrass musicians: Christian Sedelmyer, Todd Phillips, Scott Simontacchi, and David Golden.

He also created the first IBMA website at about the same time. The museum continues to evolve on the Internet as they progressed through 17 years of a web presence. This is a long time in Internet terms. The new site is clean, easy to navigate, and reflects the excellence that the International Bluegrass Music Museum strives for.
