Woodsongs Celebrates J.D. Crowe Monday Feb 11

J.D. CroweJ.D. Crowe is in fact one of the greatest bluegrass stars of all time. He comes to WoodSongs to help us celebrate his legacy career, amazing banjo style and his recent honors from the University of Kentucky. Crowe began playing the banjo early and was offered a job with Jimmy Martin's Sunny Mountain Boys in mid-1950s. In the late 1960s, Crowe formed the Kentucky Mountain Boys, principally performing in the Lexington, Kentucky region. By the early 1970s, Crowe changed the band's name to The New South, widely considered one of the most influential bluegrass groups in history.

Bobby OsborneFrankfort, KY -- Buffalo Trace Distillery announces a partnership with Michael Johnathon's WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour to celebrate Kentucky Music by bringing two Kentucky favorites together for a double-broadcast production on June 23, 2012. Singers Bobby Osborne, most known for "Rocky Top," one of the most popular songs in America's music history, and Joan Osborne, best known for her international hit single "One of Us" will both perform live in two separate shows on the grounds of Buffalo Trace Distillery, located in Frankfort, Kentucky.
