Bourbon & Bluegrass - a Bluegrass Museum Benefit

Owensboro, KY -- The Owensboro Bourbon Society, The Miller House and the International Bluegrass Music Museum are partnering together for 'Bourbon and Bluegrass,' Saturday, October 11 at The Miller House. IBMM's 9th annual Mandolin Camp! Nov. 14-16, 2014

Known for his mastery of Monroe-style playing, Mike is a preservationist who continues teaching the music that Bill Monroe innovated and which set the standard for generations of bluegrass mandolin players to come. The International Bluegrass Music Museum's (IBMM) 9th Annual Mandolin Camp will take place November 14 through 16 at the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Doyle Lawson & Del McCoury Hall of Fame Plaques Unveiled

Doyle Lawson, Del McCoury Hall of Fame 2014Owensboro, KY -- Award winning bluegrass music artists and Hall of Fame inductees Doyle Lawson (2012) and Del McCoury (2011) had their Hall of Fame plaques unveiled at this year's ROMP festival. The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has a committee that selects the inductees for each year. The two artists saw their Hall of Fame Plaques unveiled between sets at ROMP Fest in Owensboro this past Thursday. Both the Del McCoury Band and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver performed during ROMP on Thursday. The plaque unveiling is a major tribute to these Hall of Fame Inductees.

Del McCouryROMP is excited and proud to welcome back a member of the International Bluegrass Music's Hall of Honor, Mr. Del McCoury. Del has been a legend of bluegrass music his entire career. In 1964 he began his ascent to the Hall of Fame by joining the Father of Bluegrass -- Bill Monroe-- and Monroe's Blue Grass Boys.

POWERFUL: Bill Monroe Remembered tells the poignant, riveting story of Ohio County, KY native Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass Music, through the remembrances of dozens of his "Blue Grass Boys," the name given to the 161 sidemen and women who, at various times, were members of his band from the 1940s until his death in 1996.

Bluegrass Museum Ramping Up For ROMP

ROMP Festival is a four-day music and camping festival hosted at both the museum, in downtown Owensboro, and at Yellow Creek Park, a gorgeous 150-acre facility that is a perfect setting for a music festival. ROMP features traditional and legendary bluegrass artists alongside old time and progressive bluegrass musicians who expand the boundaries to the far-flung roots and branches of bluegrass.
