Bluegrass Music Museum to Receive Distinguished Achievement Award

The announcement was made during the nominee show for the 26th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards on SiriusXM's Bluegrass Junction channel, hosted by radio personality and Bluegrass Museum trustee, Kyle Cantrell.

International Bluegrass Music Museum Announces Fall Concert SeriesOwensboro, KY - The International Bluegrass Music Museum announced the schedule for their fall benefit concert series slated to begin August 26 and continuing through the month of December. The series will feature seven bluegrass and folk bands from across the United States starting with Mipso, a four-piece out of North Carolina on August 26.

Bluegrass Music Museum Names New Executive Director

IBMM Executive Director Chris JoslinOwensboro, KY - The International Bluegrass Music Museum's Board of Directors announced that Chris Joslin has been named as the organization's Executive Director. Joslin is expected to begin working at the Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky on September 1. Joslin brings to the IBMM extensive experience as an Executive Recruiter, including his most recent position with the Sanford Group, a retained search firm out of Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to that, he worked as an operations manager with a healthcare company in Nashville focused on stand-alone physical therapy clinics. Joslin received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Belmont University as well as a Masters of Business Administration from Belmont's Massey School of Business.

Bluegrass Museum Unveils “Bluegrass Music: A History with Many Sources”

Bluegrass Music ExhibitOwensboro, KY -- The International Bluegrass Music Museum’s (IBMM) latest exhibit, “Bluegrass Music: A History with Many Sources,” is now open for public viewing. The exhibit, which will run for one year, acts as a timeline, tracing the history of Bluegrass music from the early 1900s to the late 1950s when artists such as Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers gave the genre its name.

Bluegrass Museum Board of Trustees Appoints New Officers

Newly elected officers include Mike Simpson, Chairman; Terry Woodward, Vice-Chairman; Rosemary Conder, Secretary; and Chris Love, Treasurer. Six Board of Trustee members will rotate off of the board including current Chairman, Dr. Peter Salovey; Secretary, Terry Gold; Executive Committee member, Gill Holland and Trustees, Dr. Richard Brown, Larry Harrington and Jesse McReynolds.

Kentucky Commits $5-Million for International Bluegrass Music Center Building

International Bluegrass Music MuseumOwensboro, KY - In a press conference Wednesday morning at the Owensboro Convention Center, Governor Steve Beshear announced plans for the state of Kentucky to provide an additional $5 million towards the International Bluegrass Music Center. Several state and local government officials spoke during the press conference including Representative Tommy Thompson, state Senator Joe Bowen, Mayor Ron Payne, and Bluegrass Museum chairmen, Terry Woodward and Rosemary Conder.

The Bluegrass Hall of Fame: Inductee Biographies 1991-2014 is the title of the new book Fred Bartenstein wrote with Gary Reid and a few others for the International Bluegrass Music Museum. Fred says, "It looks even better than I thought it would. There are 44 big color and 19 black and white photo portraits, many never-before published. I've put autographed copies up for sale on my website." The book will soon be available through other outlets.

International Bluegrass Music Museum Begins Executive Director Search

Gray, the museum's chief executive, would be ending her exceptional 12-year tenure as the museum's creative leader and retires as executive director. Carly Smith has been acting as the museum's interim director. The Museum has officially commenced their search for a new Executive Director to carry on the tradition and lead the museum on the next page of its journey.
