Mike Mitchell is teaming with Mark Schatz!

Mark Schatz and Mike MitchellFloyd, VA -- From the Floyd Music School Studio, in the historic Pix Theater Building, downtown Floyd, VA, Mike Mitchell is teaming with Mark Schatz! Mike is excited to announce the recording of a new bluegrass album project, Small Town. With Mark Schatz producing and bass-ing, the players include Mike’s bandmate, from The Bluegrass Trio, Tommy Morse on banjo and Mark’s bandmate, from the Claire Lynch Band, Jarod Walker on mandolin and guitar. The recording will be tracked and mixed at Blackwater recording Studio, in Wirtz, VA.

Alison Krauss Unable to Perform at Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

Alison KraussNashville, TN -- Performer Alison Krauss will be unable to perform, as previously announced, as part of the “epic collaboration” set planned for Friday, September 27 during IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, at Red Hat Amphitheater. As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”

Mountain Music ProjectThe Mountain Music Project is proud to announce the new release of both their documentary film and their groundbreaking collaborative CD. The CD entitled The Mountain Music Project: A Musical Odyssey from Appalachia to Himalaya is a collaboration of the Nepali/Himalayan traditional music of the Gandharba, or musician caste, and the Bluegrass/Old Time musics of the Appalachian mountain region of the United States.
